A fine commemorative column, hidden behind a protective wall (erected during WW2 to ensure its preservation) - was discovered 74 years later in March 2013 during the complete restoration of Chateau d'Allaman - one of Switzerland's most important private properties of GRADE 1 of National Interest and Importance.

The stone column is engraved and documents the highlights of J.J. Count de Sellon's achievements and initiatives in the abolition of capital punishment and the creation of the peace movements 'Societe de la Paix' in 1830.

De Sellon's ideas and fraternities were all destined to create peace among nations, religions and cultures. Later in history, the Société de la Paix shall be succeeded by the Society/League of Nations and the United Nations idea.
